First there was Delizique, then there was Cafezique and now… The Bakery by Zique, is the latest addition to the growing ‘Zique’ family.

There has been a collected sense of delight in the news that the talented bakers and pastry chefs that made the breads, cakes and pastries for Cafezique and Delizique (now closed for refurbishment) on Hyndland Street, Partick, have just opened their very own stand-alone bakery on Lauderdale Gardens in Hyndland.

The Bakery by Zique opened just a couple of weeks ago and is already busy selling everything from breads, cakes, pastries and tarts, to salads, soups and sandwiches, all freshly made in-house every day, throughout the day.

Owner Mhairi Taylor is very excited about the new menu which features blowtorched citrus cassis meringue tarts, passion fruit & white chocolate cheesecake, strawberries & cream swiss roll, assoirted frangipanes, financiers (below), chocolate mousse & cassis layer cake and weekend ‘showstopper’ cakes. There will gluten free options available each day and the pastry chefs are working on delicious vegan cakes which should be on the menu shortly.

Head pastry chef Lyndsay Michie comes to The Bakery by Zique from Cottonrake on Great Western Road, and trained at the 2-Michelin starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles and Le Gavroche in London’s Mayfair, under Michel Roux Jr, also awarded 2 Michelin stars.

Sourdoughs, crusty white loaves, baguettes and brioches will be made by Head Baker Ariel Soja, who has been baking bread at Delizique for nine years. Crusty Whites and Granary loaves hit the shelves at 9am, Baguettes come out at 10.30am and Sourdoughs are available from 11.30am. Gluten free loaves are also available on request. Just call the bakery or pop in and place your order the day before for your GF loaf which will be available at 11.30am the next day.

Assorted croissants, pain au chocolat and Danish pastries are soon to hit the counter, once the team have perfected their recipes and techniques. Just imagine the smell of fresh croissants coming out of the oven in the morning!

As well as bread and sweet treats, The Bakery by Zique has scrumptious loooking savoury options such as Syrian rice-stuffed peppers, Butternut Squash & Sage Quiche, Roasted Vegetable & Beetroot Pate salad boxes, Kerelan Chickpea & Sweet Potato Curry with Coconut Rice and various soups.

The Bakery by Zique is still brand new and there will be lots of new developments over the coming weeks and months so its definitely worth keeping an eye on this place.
