Most of Glasgow’s cooler coffee shops tend to congregate in the West End of the city, which can be a bit of a pain for anyone who doesn’t live there. Luckily for Southsiders, they no longer have to travel far for good coffee, as Southside Roasters has recently opened on Pollokshaws Road in Queen’s Park.
With its simple and stylish decor, and a happy smile as soon as you walk through the door, this is a great little place to hang out. And if you need to work, there are lots of plug sockets too (says the person who looks for plus sockets as soon as they enter a room!)
Owner Matthew has worked in the industry for years and his knowledge and passion are evident. He certainly knows what he’s doing when it comes to coffee, which is roasted in small batches using ethically-sourced beans from around the world. The milk he uses is non-homogenised from Moss Giel farm in Ayrshire. And if you like what you taste, you can always buy your favourite roasts and take them home.
if you want something to eat with your coffee, the small but perfectly formed food menu is definitely worth checking out.
The 3 cheese toastie at £3 is a winner. Simple, delicious and oh so comforting….
And you really can’t go wrong with freshly made waffles with fresh fruit and maple syrup (£4)…
A keen home baker, Matthew is always coming up with new baked treats and this Millionaire Brownie may have started out as a bit of a mistake, but my goodness, it ended perfectly!
If you live on the south side, this should definitely be your new favourite local, and if you don’t, Southside Roasters is definitely worth travelling South for.
