Meadow Road isn’t really a place you’d naturally stumble across but its definitely worth travelling to for its fantastic Dear Green Coffee and terrific bakes, courtesy of bakery47. Situated at the far end of Dumbarton Road, at the west end of the west end of Glasgow, its warm and welcoming and serves up fantastic breakfasts and lunch dishes.
This is one of those places that’s highly instagrammable. When you walk in you’re greeted with a friendly ‘hello’, the menu board above lists their hot drinks, and below is a beautiful selection of bakery47 cakes. The back wall has shelves laden with jars of tahini and jams.
Meadow Road is a small place, with about 10 stools lining the floor to ceiling windows, giving you a clear view of Dumbarton Road. As such, its not really a place you could go with a crowd. On your own or a friend, fine, but you don’t want to be stuck in between two friends and having to strain your neck like an owl in between them!
Both the coffee and their eggs are fantastic…
Yolks perfectly runny, delicious seeded toast slathered with cream cheese and topped with kale and avocado and drizzled with some balsamic (in place of the suggested hot sauce on the menu).
But the highlight truly came with the salted caramel brownie. WOW! This was insanely good, and that’s coming from someone who is exremely fussy when it comes to brownies.
Rich and gooey chocolate, almost like a dense mousse is topped with a generous helping of decadent salted caramel. This is the kind of brownie that stops you in your tracks and forces you to close your eyes when you’re eating it, just to savour every last morsel.
This is a terrific place. Well worth travelling a little bit further down Dumbarton Road for.
