Edinburgh has a wealth of fantastic coffee shops, and Fortitude Coffee on York Place is one of the best.
Its small but perfectly formed, with simple, clean and stylish decor. There are three tables on your right as you walk in, and a few stools along a shelf on the left. Blankets are laid out for those chilly days.
Boards on the wall explain what’s on offer, including the origin, process and tasting notes. The shelves are stocked with bags of coffee (ground & beans) and associated paraphernalia available to buy, including aeropress coffee makers and coffee cups.
Their knowledgeable baristas serve up expertly made coffee using filtered water and single origin beans roasted by their sister company Fortitude Coffee Roasters. Every coffee is ground fresh to order, with a different roaster each week. They also have a selection of teas by Anteaques, milk and dark hot chocolate, a light food menu and cakes & bakes from a selection of Edinburgh bakeries.
The service is friendly, knowlegeable and helpful and its just a lovely place to hang out. If you’re in Edinburgh and you love your coffee, make sure Fortitude is top of your list.
